In his Mediations on First Philosophy, Descartes drew a distinct line showing the difference between body and mind. Cartesian dualism is central Descartes’ claim in his philosophy, according to which immaterial mind and material body are ontologically distinct, but they interact between each other. The main feature of the body or a material substance is its extensional character: they have size, shape, and motion.
