Huey Long Term Papers
Huey Pierce Long was born in Winnfield, Winn Parish, Louisiana on August 30, 1893. Winn Parish supported strong Populist and Socialist opinions, and these thoughts appeared again later in life when he ran for public office. Huey Long didn’t graduate from high school, but he continued to study law at the University of Oklahoma and Tulane University. He managed to pass the bar exam and started to practice law in his home state of Louisiana in 1915. Despite the fact that Long proved to be a successful lawyer, he wanted to go into politics. Initially, Long claimed that his ambitions were only on the local level. All he wanted was to make Winnfield a better place. However, there were a few occasions when he let his more global aspirations slip which included the state and perhaps even the whole country. Long has a self proclaimed insolence about him that annoyed his political opponents and denigrated his own constituents.
