In the field of genetic engineering there is the burning issue of human cloning. If courts are giving custody of adopted children to their birth parents, should that extend to clones? Is human created in any way other than the natural way still human? It is a well-known fact that the beginnings of life can occur outside the womb, but they can’t occur without sperm and egg. Finally, it should be decided by us just how desperately we want the cure to illness, to reveal the mysteries of a prolonged life, or to give our children the opportunity to live free of disease or disability. It would be safe to suppose that humanity will remain undamaged, even notwithstanding extensive cloning. Consequently, we are not facing the loss of humanity, but a radical transformation of our standards of operation. It has been assumed that the maximum age for humanity is 128, but we are not living to that age since our bodies stop functioning long before this point is reached.
