Taking into account the role of healthcare administration staff within the larger context of the hospital, it is obvious that there are many problems administrators are faced with. Bruder (1991) mentions that administrators of the private sector have problems with remaining loyal, expressing disagreement, or leaving the organization. In addition, they are confronted with the dilemma of how to act on personal beliefs, especially if personal belief is not conformable to institutional policy. Administration of any hospital organization is the public face of the organization. If there are problems with quality of care or finances, the administrator has to solve them. In fact, administrators prove to be capable resource managers. In addition, physicians and nurses prove to be capable clinical managers. The function of case management is to integrate these two specialties so that patient care is improved and the hospital is able to run in a more effective way. However, administrators are still needed and their services are still viable. It just demonstrates that the administrator’s role is often not proportional to developing specific healthcare results for the patient. Consequently, the case manager combines these two positions to provide the best of both worlds for the healthcare organization and its patients. To function case management programs must be supported by both physicians and administrators. Therefore, if administrators decide to use the services of case management, they should discuss this move with physicians. Sometimes physicians may feel as if their authority is being taken over by someone who cares only about money matters. They should be aware that this is not the case.
